This article analyses the narrative mechanisms of the migratory phenomenon in the story 'Quimbamba' (Afroqueeridades, 2023), by the Puerto Rican writer Yolanda Arroyo Pizarro. Puerto Rico's socio-historical status gives its literature particular characteristics. Moreover, its national literature transcends the borders of the island territory and integrates with the literature of the diaspora. In the text analysed, the author narrates migration from a perspective that integrates the phenomenon of forced displacement with the perspective of gender, violence, the narration of sex-gender dissidence and the claims of racialised authors.
