INTERMEDIAL REFERENCES IN SERGIO CHEJFEC’S MIS DOS MUNDOS AND MODO LINTERNA

In this article I propose an analysis of Mis dos mundos and Modo linterna, by the Argentinean writer Sergio Chejfec (1956-2022) from an intermedial perspective. The aim is to reflect on the effects produced by the encounter between image and
text in non-literal terms and how the visual and verbal experience is connected in these two cases. The first part is dedicated to defining the concept of intermedial reference and contextualizing it in a broader theoretical field. I then address the ekphrasis
as a paradigmatic example of this form of intermediality and a fundamental strategy in the works studied. Towards the end of the text, I present the analysis of the intermedial references to the drawings of the South African artist William Kentridge in Mis
dos mundos, and to photography in Modo linterna.
