The 'port modernization' in the Biobío Region. A case of privatization with precarious employment (1998-2018)

Abstract

In the article that we present below, we analyze, based on descriptive statistics from various administrative sources, the process of port modernization in the Biobío region and its impact on the sector's labor relations model. Based on this, it is argued that the application of the privatization reforms had an impact on the prevalence of a labor organization model based on eventuality and the redondilla system, with low levels of labor formality and precariousness.
