Abstract

Proposes to examine the projection of the territory of Aconcagua in orden to determine the way in which this space is configured political, geographical and since the identity from the colonial period until the present time. The analysis focuses on the planning process of the Chilean territory and in the consequent correspondence that develops with the subnational space in question. It is postulated that "Aconcagua" is a fickle, ambiguous and indeterminate territory; Condition that allows to understand today the divergences around the project to recreate a new region, independent of the current region of Valparaíso under the toponymy of "Aconcagua".
