Nowadays, maintaining the health of people with chronic diseases poses a great challenge and self-efficacy is a key indicator to obtain better results when adopting healthy behaviors. The nursing professional plays a fundamental role in the application of innovative tools, such as telenursing, to promote self-efficacy in people with long-term illnesses. This article describes telenursing as a strategic tool to promote the development of self-efficacy in people with chronic diseases. It is concluded that telenursing can help support and facilitate the self-management process and greater self-efficacy can lead to a better quality of life in people with chronic diseases. It is necessary to continue incorporating new technologies, according to the different realities of the communities and health teams, where the nursing professional is a fundamental element to help integrate them.
