This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study carried out in a University Hospital located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, aiming to describe the pregnant women’s perception regarding the obstetrics nurse care at prenatal support clinic. Eighteen pregnant women, who agreed to answer a partially-structured interview, were investigated after the research was approved by the institution’s Ethics Committee. The thematic analysis of the accounts revealed that the obstetrics nurse care is differentiated, with warmth and attention, thus enabling the clarifcation of questions and learning in relation to the pregnancy and childbearing processes. The prenatal connection established between the obstetrics nurse and the pregnant woman contributes for the process of health education for women, respecting the clients’ life habits and culture.
