ADVERSE EVENTS IDENTIFIED IN NURSING REPORTS IN A PEDIATRIC CLINICAL

Descriptive, retrospective and documentary research with quantitative approach that aims to identify adverse events occurred in the pediatric unit of a teaching hospital in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil. Data collection was conducted in two periods: October 2011 to February 2012 and August 2014, and data were obtained from reports of nursing. Completed reports filled from June 2006 to June 2013 were analyzed. The data were structured at a Microsoft Excel spreadsheets version 2010 and statistically analyzed using the SPSS software version 19.0. There were 556 adverse events identified that occurred during pediatric clinical assistance, and the most prevalent ones were related to vascular access (40.8%), followed by the related probes, catheters, drains and pipes (27.2%), and drug-related (15.5%). It is considered that the results of this study allow an analysis of the risks to which children are exposed and planning actions to be worked for the improvement in the care process.
