Methods: Convergent-care research. The study involved 26 members of a nursing team, 7 nurses and 19 nurse technicians. Data were collected at four different stages through a questionnaire with open questions, opportunities for reflection, integrative review and on-site care meetings. Results: A guide including a set of actions related to nursing practice in the preparation, application and maintenance of peripheral intravenous therapy was developed. Conclusion: This collective construction allowed nurses to reflect on their reality, promote change in their way of acting and thinking, thus improving care provision and safety during a procedure.
