THE MOST FREQUENT NURSING DIAGNOSES IN A PEDIATRIC ADMISSION UNIT

This is a descriptive qualitative study whose aims were to elabórate an assessment guideline for infant and early childhood undertaken in a pediatric unit in a public hospital, based on the Functional Health Patterns of Gordon, to identify the most frequent nursing diagnoses in that area, its defining characteristics and related factors, and to collaborate to the validation of the nursing diagnoses of NANDA. The sample was composed by 23 children under ten years oíd and 32 nursing diagnoses were identified, of which the most frequent were: altered health maintenance, impaired skin integrity, altered family processes, altered comfort, knowledge déficit, social interaction damaged and risk for infection.
