JOB SATISFACTION OF NURSES WORKING AT THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICE (S.A.M.U.)

The aim of this study was to know the job satisfaction of nurses working at the emergency medical assistance service (SAMU) at the Metropolitan Region and Eigth Region, Chile. The study is descriptive, prospective, and correlational. With all nurses working in these units, data compilation was tested using Job Description Index (JDI) and a instrument created by the autor of this study for the collection of sociodemographic data. Data analysis showed a trend towards good job satisfaction among the study group members, and the predictive variable work activities is the one that produces the most job satisfaction. Predictive variable promotions and remunerations are the ones that produce great insatisfation among nurses. This study shows no significant differences in the work satisfaction between nurses applying for the first time to the nursing school and those that applied to a different one. The relationship between personal life satisfaction and work satisfaction is a positive correlation.
