Abstract

A correlate transversal study, whose objective was to be able to know the user’s perception regarding violence in primary health care services and other factors related, based in the Working Violence Interactive model by Chapell and Di Martino. The sample was selected randomly and they were about 120 users who answered confidentially a survey in their homes regarding to their violence perception in relation to primary health care services from Paravic and Cols., modified by the author for the user’s situation in primary health care services. The outcoming data resulting on the research were processed by the statistics program known as SAS. The results show that the 84.17% of users perceived violent behaviour. The perceived violence level was medium and high. From these two, the 96.75% of users said having experienced psychological
violence attributed to corporative features and primary care worker’s lack of social skills. A 50.83% perceived an influence of this violence towards their own mental health. Administrative personnel and paramedics were perceived as aggressors towards users, being working stress, identified as the main cause for such behavior. And being SOME and Emergency Care the most likely places to suffer from violence as a user. The variables that turned out to be predictable of user’s violence perception included in the regression logistic model were: age, education, number of children and family income; pointing out that younger users with a complete schooling, with children and better income, are the ones more likely to perceive a
higher range of violence in primary care services.
