Abstract

This article is a review of the literature looking for a relationship between nursing and Schütz phenomenology Model. Its aim is to examine the meaning of nursing care according to Schütz’s phenomenological approach, based on the actions of nurses, their motivations and reasons. The theoretical framework is based on the sociological phenomenological of Schütz. The study found that the “reasons for” and “reasons why” to understand the meaning of care; the first one emphasizes the recovery, health promotion, comfort, welfare and safety of the client; the second, emphasizes the importance of the environment and conditions for assistance development. Participatory management models and innovative strategies for transforming the practice and development of integral and humanized care are neccesary, guided by the health paradigm.
