Objective: To determine whether the dimensions observed in the Scale of Mother-Infant Attachment Indicators during Stress correspond to the behavioral patterns observed in
the recordings of mother-child dyads, by saturation of the sample, during skin-to-skin contact in the visiting hours for hospitalized newborns, in a public hospital in the Bío- Bío Region, Chile. Material and Method: Descriptive study, conducted in the first semester of 2019, based on the observation of 21 mother-child dyads, during the period of visits to their children hospitalized in the neonatal unit, after consent and orientation
of the application of skin-to-skin contact. Fifteen 40-minute audio-video recording sessions were carried out and transcribed to classify the behavioral patterns identified and their relationship to the dimensions expressed in the scale. Results: The dimensions established in the Scale of Mother-Infant Attachment Indicators during Stress are related to the behavioral patterns observed in the skin-to-skin contact of the dyad, where the item “gazing” was the one that obtained the highest percentage. Conclusion: Early screening in the dyadic relationship allows for assessment of the type of attachment,
facilitating timely interprofessional interventions for the benefit of the attachment relationship. The Scale of Mother-Infant Attachment Indicators during Stress is useful, relevant, easy to use and accessible.
