SEXUAL HEALTH OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN FROM GUANAJUATO, MEXICO

Objective: To describe the global sexual health and by dimension of a group of university women and determine its relationship with sociodemographic, academic variables and sexuality characterization. Material and Method: quantitative, descriptive, correlational research, carried out on 91 women from two private universities in Guanajuato, a data sheet and the Sexual Health Scale were applied, the sampling for the universities was probabilistic and for the participants non-probabilistic, It used descriptive and inferential statistics and adhered to ethical-legal considerations. Results: 91 women from 18 to 24 years old participated, 74.7% had a sexual life, they reported from one to 11 sexual partners, an average of 17 years (SD 1.73) for the beginning of a sexual life, they obtained high levels of sexual health. (? 114.85; SD 11.50) and a statistically significant relationship was found in variables such as beginning of sexual life, age of beginning of sexual life, number of sexual partners, active sexual life and use of contraceptive methods. Conclusions: the participants have high levels of sexual health, as well as knowledge and attitudes, however, they present a medium level of practices, a situation that violates health and other aspects. This study contributes to providing an overview of the sexual health of young women, as well as some variables that nursing should consider when formulating programs that help promote sexual health.
