La recuperación de la ciudad en la lucha anti-capitalista
Keywords:
Capitalist crisis, city, social struggleAbstract
The conference delivered by Professor David Harvey, and organized by the Department of Geography, University of Concepción, occurs in a context of great social unrest in our country, a process raised by the student movement that challenges the very foundations of the neoliberal model implemented in Chile since the early seventies. Professor Harvey makes an analysis of capital accumulation's process at global level, and the recurrent crisis inherent to capitalism, where the city becomes once again the ideal setting to carry on spatial conflicts. This analysis makes a lot of sense, particularly for the city of Concepcion, which finds it self in a process of post-earthquake reconstruction, where "the right to the city" is not clear, and the production of space is permanently tensioned.
