Abstract

In light of modern heritage protection, cultural property values incorporate recognition so that the intangible and territoriality are aspects which distinguish the cultural route and the cultural landscape, both included as emerging categories which fall under property on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Considering the particularities and differences between Spain (Europe) and Mexico (America), one can consider that the inclusion of the Camino de Santiago in 1993 and the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (Mexico) in 2010, marking the new role of heritage in the territory, but this transformation goes further, in our view, it is also about the renewal of the interpretive frameworks that has already been overtaken classical vision of preserving the historical monument. In this context, the prospects opened up by cultural geography in recent decades (diversification of subjects studied, deepening approach theoretical perspectives and social sciences) offer an interesting position from which one can analyze a natural reality, which is also social. The case study presented here is the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (Mexico); this project is promising and vast in content, the fact is that it has failed to convincingly explain your selection of fifty nine sites, and as this itinerary reflects the exchange that there were between cultures while it remained in force, sixteenth to nineteenth centuries.
