Abstract

This research focuses mainly on the study of landscape considering this as a purely cultural element. In this particular case, the construction of a cultural boundary in the landscape of piñoneras in Alto Biobio district was addressed from an ancient perspective and was considered as the main element Araucaria araucana (Mol). K. Koch, because these species are those that produce the piñón, edible fruit base and sustenance of pewenche, and therefore the central axis on which the piñonera is built. Within these landscapes, Araucaria are considered family groups by the pewenche communities, as they are the oldest Araucarias which have generated the seeds that have germinated younger individuals. These families of Araucaria cover large areas to the borders with other families of Araucaria located in other communities. From the above, these landscapes as a reflection of pewenche communities in nature and therefore was considered a cultural construct.
