It is suggest the applicability of the concept of “Roughness” of territory raised by Milton Santos in the 80´ decade, for be applied in the case of study of wine-growing industry in central Chile. It were studied the characteristics and impacts at socio environmental level that these have in the development of the industry in two rural communes of the Metropolitan Region. The principal conclusion is that the dynamics of the industry is deeply affected by factors such as, the historic construction of the places and the landscape prevalent characteristic (Physic-natural and social), which influence the existence of different socio environmental impacts, despite that the actual logic of production is essentially neoliberal in both cases.
