The governance of protected areas requires proper coordination of multiple stakeholders with interest and/or influence the conservation of biodiversity and the development of local communities. This paper presents a case study islets located in the Natural Monument Puñihuil (MNIP) and its surrounding area, where three important activities: biodiversity conservation, nature tourism and artisanal fisheries. The study uses the methodology of stakeholder mapping and analysis of social networks (ARS) to identify the relationships they establish the various stakeholders with an interest and / or influence the conservation and / or development in the MNIP and its surrounding area. The results show the existence of 38 players involved in aspects of conservation and development of Natural Monument Puñihuil islets and surrounding area, which have operating in various geographical scales, have a great diversity of interests and show significant disparities in their degrees of influence.
The results suggest the existence of a number of factors affecting the degree of involvement and integration between the various stakeholders for good territorial governance in the MNIP and its surrounding area. However, the relational features of the social network of the actors involved have conditions that may be appropriate to initiate processes of governance of the territory. An important aspect for governance MNIP and its surrounding area is the existence of scenarios offs (trade-offs) between the actors, that is, situations where there are winners and losers, particularly in areas involving integrated aspects between conservation and development.
