FIVE NEW RECORDS OF MARINE LICHENS FROM CHILE

Keywords:

Central Chile, littoral zone, rocky shores

Abstract

Five marine lichen species are reported for the first time in Chile: Arthopyrenia saxicola Massal., Caloplaca carphinea
(Fr.) Jatta, C. thallincola (Wedd.) Du Rietz, Pertusaria rupicola (Fr.) Harm. and Xanthoria ectaenoides (Nyl.) Zahlbr.
These were found at Bahía de Constitución, Central Chile. Descriptions of the material cover the external morphology of
the thallus and the internal morphological characters of the reproductive structures. Colour photos of the thallus of all
species are included, plus for some taxa we also describe chemical reactions of the thallus and of some reproductive
structures.
