Abstract

Recent revisions of families and genera of Chilean diatoms reveal that the taxonomic knowledge on this flora is still limited, and in some instances, not reliable.

This paper provides information about bibliographic references on taxonomy and distribution of marine and freshwater diatoms from Chile and includes 197 references since 1840 to 2000.
