Update of the Terrestrial Ecoregions of Peru proposed in the Red Book of Endemic Plants of Peru

Abstract

In 2007, the Red Book of Endemic Plants of Peru was published, where a new proposal of terrestrial ecoregions of Peru was presented. The 13 proposed ecoregions were not fully described or represented on a map. This article presents the interpretation and update of the ecoregions proposed in 2007, as well as the subsequent modifi cations to these, based on new advances in knowledge of Peruvian and South American fl ora, as well as available information resources. The 15 new ecoregions are contrasted with those previously proposed and which have been used to describe the Peruvian territory.
