VIOLENCE, SUBVERSION AND LITERARY EXPERIENCE IN MATAR A LOS VIEJOS (2001) BY CARLOS DROGUETT
Abstract
Th e novel Matar a los viejos by Carlos Droguett is the direct result of the
impact that the 1973 coup produced on the author. Its publication had to overcome
various editorial and political vicissitudes. Even so, the novel did not see the light of
day until posthumously in 2001. Th e objective of this article is to demonstrate, based on
its analysis, the way in which the author constructs a fi ctional proposal that generates
refl ections on violence, injustice and the (im)possibility of a revolution that announces
the advent of a new history; all this within the framework of the potential of the literary
text as an artistic artifact capable of building new aesthetic experiences.
