MODELS OF SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS AND THE FIGURE OF THE ILL SCIENTIST IN “LOS HÉLMIDOS” (1967), BY RENÉ REBETEZ, AND “SENSATEZ DEL CÍRCULO” (1979), BY ANGÉLICA GORODISCHER
Abstract
Transdisciplinary and comparative study of the stories “Sensatez del círculo”,
by Angélica Gorodischer, and “Los hélmidos”, by René Rebetez. We analyze how science,
scientifi c progress and the character of the scientist are presented in the narrated
worlds. Finally, we examine the way in which the authors, from their fi ctional worlds,
anticipate, parody or subvert the meta-scientifi c theories of Popper, Kuhn and Sousa
Santos, emphasizing the potential of science fi ction (SF) as a critical genre.
