Materials and
methods: Instrumental study using a non-probabilistic sample of 320 patients aged 18-78 years, who were
diagnosed with depressive disorder. Four dimensions were proposed: shame, guilt, social maladjustment,
and barriers to seeking help, with a total of sixteen items. Convergent validity was assessed using the
Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Inventory (ISMI), and symptom severity was evaluated using the
Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Linguistic adaptation involved correlation analysis, exploratory factor
analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and internal consistency. Results: The EFA identified a bifactorial structure of 14 items. The CFA showed an adequate model fit (?2= 188.271; df= 76; p= 0.001; CFI= 0.98; TLI= 0.98; RMSEA= 0.076 and SRMR= 0.073). The scale showed adequate internal consistency (?=0.83; ?=0.85). Conclusion: The bifactorial version of the Self-Stigma of Depression Scale has adequate psychometric properties for its use with the Chilean population.

Gustavo Adolfo Domínguez Araya, Carolina Inostroza Rovegno, Christian Pérez Villalobos , Daniel Ignacio Pereira, Javier Opazo Araya Copyright (c) 2026 Gustavo Adolfo Domínguez Araya, Carolina Inostroza Rovegno, Christian Pérez Villalobos , Daniel Ignacio Pereira, Javier Opazo Araya https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/21838 Sun, 04 Jan 2026 00:00:00 -0500 PERCEPTION OF MIGRANT PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS ABOUT VACCINATION IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/19709
Objective: To analyze the perceptions of migrant parents and caregivers regarding the vaccination of children and adolescents in their care in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, Chile, during the second half of 2024. Material and Method: Observational, cross-sectional, analytical study with a quantitative approach. The study population consisted of 395 migrant parents and caregivers of children and adolescents living in the Metropolitan Region. Convenience sampling was used for selection. A Likert-type survey and sociodemographic questions were administered online and in person. Data were processed using descriptive statistics. The study was previously approved by an ethics committee. Results: 65% of the participants were women. Most participants (37.7%) resided in communities with a low-middle socioeconomic level. The predominant nationality was Venezuelan (43.5%). Respondents recognized the preventive value and safety of vaccines, although knowledge about the vaccination schedule was lower.
There was high acceptance of mandatory vaccination and compliance with the schedule. Conclusions: There is evidence of a positive perception of childhood vaccination, which highlight their preventive value and safety. However, gaps in knowledge of the vaccination schedule were identified. High acceptance of mandatory vaccination and compliance with the schedule promote the sustainability of vaccination programs. Higher participation of women reinforces their role in child health, underscoring the importance of culturally adapted strategies to ensure vaccination in the population.
Cristian Lermanda-Peña, Maria Añez-Cedeño, Evelyn Jerez-Lema, Paula Sepúlveda-Palomo, Catalina Riquelme-Molina, Brenda Urrejola-Fuentes Copyright (c) 2026 Cristian Lermanda Peña, Maria Añez Cedeño, Evelyn Jerez Lema, Paula Sepúlveda Palomo, Catalina Riquelme Molina, Brenda Urrejola Fuentes https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/19709 Wed, 07 Jan 2026 00:00:00 -0500 NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE SECONDARY TO CHEMOTHERAPY- RELATED COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT IN BREAST CANCER http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/22719
Objective: To compare the neuropsychological profile before and after chemotherapy treatment in patients diagnosed with breast cancer treated at the Haemato-Oncology Service of a hospital in Santiago, Chile. Material and Method: A quantitative, exploratory and prospective study was carried out, including 10 women with breast cancer aged 43 to 65 years. Cognitive functions and emotional status were assessed using validated instruments. Descriptive analysis and the Wilcoxon test (p= < .05) were performed, ensuring data quality
through standardised test administration. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in inhibitory executive functions (Z= -2.032; p= .042; r= .64) and stress levels (Z= -2.530; p= .011; r= .80), indicating improved cognitive performance and reduced stress following treatment, with large effect
sizes. No significant differences were found in other cognitive or affective
variables. Nevertheless, participants reported a reduction in subjective
complaints after chemotherapy. Conclusions: In the sample, significant differences before and after chemotherapy treatment were observed exclusively in the inhibitory executive function word subtest and stress. Participants reported reduced cognitive complaints after treatment. This may be associated with reduced stress following the cancer diagnosis and completion of chemotherapy treatment. Further research is recommended.
Pedro Rojas-Román, Felipe Gonzalo Rosales-Lillo, Camila Contreras-Alonso, Iván Olea-Silva, María Catalina Roldán-Pizarro Copyright (c) 2026 Pedro Rojas-Román, Felipe Gonzalo Rosales-Lillo, Camila Contreras-Alonso, Iván Olea-Silva, María Catalina Roldán-Pizarro https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/22719 Wed, 06 May 2026 00:00:00 -0400 TRANSITION TOWARDS MALE VISIBILITY IN 20TH CENTURY NURSING: A PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/22076
Objective: To understand how the transition of men toward visibility occurred in a predominantly female environment during the 20th century. Materials and Methods: A qualitative study with a Heideggerian hermeneutic phenomenological approach. Conducted from June to December 2023 with male nursing
professionals from different Peruvian cities who worked during the 20th century (n= 12). Participants were selected intentionally using the snowball method. Data was collected through document review, structured virtual interviews, and thematic analysis, following the rigor criteria of Cancio and Soares. Data saturation
was sought, and narratives were processed using Quirkos software
V. 2.5.3. Results: Three themes were identified that explain the transition toward male visibility in nursing: 1) Professional visibility strategies, 2) Contextual opportunities, and 3) Gender dynamics. Conclusion: Men of that era used adaptation and self-affirmation strategies to gain visibility, confronting sociocultural barriers that challenged traditional gender roles. Therefore, this unique topic in the history of Peru provides a structural understanding of the profession for future male generations.
Jhan Carlos Manuel Fernández-Delgado, Francisca Edita Díaz-Villanueva, María Paz Sánchez-Sepúlveda, Edgardo Álvarez-Muñoz, Ingrid Stephanie Vásquez-Ventura Copyright (c) 2026 Jhan Carlos Manuel Fernández-Delgado, Francisca Edita Díaz-Villanueva, María Paz Sánchez-Sepúlveda, Edgardo Álvarez-Muñoz, Ingrid Stephanie Vásquez-Ventura https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/22076 Fri, 09 Jan 2026 00:00:00 -0500 FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH STRESS, ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION IN STUDENTS OF A BRAZILIAN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/21081
Objective: To identify the factors associated with stress, anxiety and depression among students at a
Brazilian international university. Material and Method: Cross-sectional and analytical study conducted with
374 Brazilian and international students enrolled in on-site undergraduate courses. Sampling was nonprobabilistic and stratified. Students who were actively enrolled and aged 18 years or over were included. Those undergoing energy therapy or taking anxiolytics or antidepressants were excluded. The study was conducted in four stages: explanation of the research; data collection; data tabulation; and statistical analysis. Two instruments were completed: a questionnaire on socioeconomic and demographic data, academic profile, lifestyle habits and self-perception of anxiety, as well as the Anxiety, Depression and Stress
Measurement Scale. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences, version 20.0.
Absolute and relative frequencies, measures of central tendency and dispersion, and the Mann-Whitney
U test were explored, and the p value considered was 0.05. Results: Women are more anxious (p=0.000); there was a statistical correlation between having a negative self-perception of academic performance (p= 0.000); history of smoking (p= 0.007); alcohol consumption (p= 0.003); not practicing physical activity (p= 0.017); negative self-perception of health (p= 0.000); negative self-perception of mental health (p= 0.000); self-perceiving as anxious (p= 0.000); and not seeking treatment for anxiety (p= 0.002). Conclusion: Understanding these factors enables the development of targeted and assertive activities to address the
problem, promote and maintain mental health.
Diego da Silva Ferreira, Francisco Mardones Dos Santos Bernando, Samara dos Reis Nepomuceno, Emilia Soares Chaves Rouberte, Edmara Chaves Costa, Carolina Maria de Lima Carvalho Copyright (c) 2026 Diego da Silva Ferreira, Francisco Mardones Dos Santos Bernando, Samara dos Reis Nepomuceno, Emilia Soares Chaves Rouberte, Edmara Chaves Costa, Carolina Maria de Lima Carvalho https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/21081 Mon, 23 Mar 2026 00:00:00 -0400 RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ANTHROPOMETRY, BIOMEDICAL INDICATORS, FUNCTIONALITY, AND COGNITIVE STATUS IN ELDERLY PEOPLE ATTENDING DAY CARE CENTERS IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF SAN CARLOS AND CHILLÁN, ÑUBLE, CHILE http://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/cienciayenfermeria/article/view/22305
Objective: To analyze the relationship between anthropometry and biomedical indicators with functionality and cognitive capacity variables in older adults attending day care centers in the municipalities of San Carlos and Chillán, Ñuble Region, Chile.
